Four years ago I was working for a wound care publishing company when we got the news that a wound care management company had made the Inc. 5000 list. I was already a subscriber of Inc. Magazine and well aware of the importance of this list, but when I heard the rest of the office talking about it, I knew it was pretty exciting news within the wound care industry. When I heard that it was Wound Care Advantage that made the list, it all made sense.
A few years prior I had spoken to WCA’s CEO, Mike Comer about our shared passions for blogging and technology. I could tell at the time that Mike and his team had a unique vision, business model, and partnership with hospitals, compared to all of the other wound care management companies that I had interviewed.
After my conversation with Mike and hearing that Wound Care Advantage was on the Inc. 5000 list, I started to think several things. The first was that I wish I could work for a cool company like WCA that makes lists in my favorite magazines. When I used a little more brainpower I also realized that wound care management is a tremendous area to focus a career. The team at Wound Care Advantage had somehow managed to combine the passion for healing patients with running fiscally sound businesses for hospitals.
Little did I know at the time, but Wound Care Advantage would not be a one hit wonder on the list and was on a strong path of growth. Last September things came full circle for me when I had the great opportunity to join the WCA team full time. At that time, our team was making the Inc. 5000 list for the third consecutive time.
Today, our team is happy to be included on the list for the fourth consecutive year. However, we also noticed the positive sign that another wound care management company —Healogics—has joined us for their first appearance on the list. We think that this is an excellent signal that the wound care segment of healthcare is growing and stronger than ever. We sincerely congratulate Healogics for joining us as wound care management leaders on the Inc. 5000.
