Rural hospitals often face unique challenges, but they play a critical role in their local communities. Located in Del Norte, Colorado and designated as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH), Rio Grande Hospital offers healthcare services to the San Luis Valley, which covers six counties and more than 8,000 square miles in south-central Colorado. 

WCA recently assisted with the development of the hospital’s new state-of-the-art wound center, including the first hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) program in the region. Previously, wound care patients who needed HBOT had to drive long distances for treatment, sometimes over two hours each way.

Now in full operation, the Rio Grande Hospital Wound Center uses WCA’s powerful, HIPAA-compliant Luvo online platform for EMR documentation, ongoing education, and operational assistance.
