Joining a growing number of hospitals seeking alternative solutions to wound center management, Decatur County Memorial Hospital recently transitioned management companies to partner with Wound Care Advantage (WCA) to utilize the Luvo model of Wound Center Management for their outpatient wound center.
Transitioning wound care management providers can be a complex undertaking. WCA provides transition specialists to guide hospital executives through the entire process, making it as smooth as possible.
“The previous management company with which we contracted did not demonstrate a willingness or ability to restructure our new contract (following the expiration of our original term) in a more equitable fashion that took into account our organization’s current needs/wants as opposed to our needs/wants as a start-up program,” said Eric Stokes, VP of operations at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
“We are extremely excited about working with the great team at Decatur County Memorial Hospital,” said Nancy Zeller, President of Wound Care Advantage. “The biggest benefit to using the Luvo operating system is that it allows hospitals like this one to pick and choose help in areas they need.”
Luvo is the first operating system that runs all wound care operational services from one convenient, easily accessible platform. Broken down into individual modules, Luvo’s valuable tools and resources address the specific operational needs required to keep a wound center running as efficient and smoothly as possibly.
“WCA brings everything to the table that our previous management company offered, but in a business model that is more adaptable to our organization’s specific needs/wants as opposed to a cookie cutter, one-size fits all approach,” said Stokes.
The wound center at Decatur County Memorial Hospital offers advanced wound care treatments and therapies to help heal diabetic wounds of the lower extremities, pressure ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, ischemic ulcers, traumatic ulcers, radiation wounds, atypical wounds and post-surgical wounds. The partnership creates a commitment to the providing of resources, equipment and expertise to treat this growing medical problem locally.
WCA works with the hospital both clinically and fiscally to ensure that they can continue to do great work serving their patients in the community.Approximately 6.5 million Americans currently suffer from non-healing wounds. Advanced wounds are often made worse by poor circulation, infection, diabetes, obesity and injuries. Without proper care these wounds can become infected, result in amputation or result in life-threatening conditions. Wound healing increases patient quality of life and works toward limb preservation in patients both with and without diabetes.
